Meet Jonathan!

I have known Jonathan for a couple of years now, & we became friends instantly… only because I was forced to be his partner through a haunted corn maze. (He got scared, pushed me into part of the set, and took off without me.) And you know what? We had a blast, and have been friends ever since! This is one talented, genuine, & adventurous guy who loves the Lord a whole lot, and I’m so thankful for his friendship! Life gets crazy at the end of a season we’re comfortable with, and Jonathan knows all about that as he’s talented in & passionate about so many things, and he’s about to step into the “adult world.” I pray this post encourages you in whatever season you may be entering & that you remember God cares about all the things that are important to you, and He will direct your steps when your heart is in the right place!

When Taylor first asked me to write on The Well, I was torn on what to write about. As I read my Bible and thought about what God is doing in my life, my mind kept returning to a topic that has been on my mind a lot lately.

What is my purpose? What was I brought into this world to do? What is God’s plan for me? What does God have for my future?

So a little about me: I LOVE to travel and take pictures. I love going on trips because I get to do my two favorite things at the same time! I am also passionate about music and am always looking for new bands to listen to! And I’m currently a student at Missouri State studying Marketing in the college of business and after that, I’m open to whatever God has for me.

As my impending senior year of college lurks, these things have been all my overly-planning mind can think about. Sure, I may know (or think I know) what I want to do, but is that really what God wants me to do?

When I get frustrated about not knowing what my future looks like, I have to remind myself of a couple of things:

First, God has never failed me. He never has, never will. He has a plan & I have to relentlessly pursue Him and have faith that He will deliver His promises. It is SO comforting to know that God’s got it!

Secondly, God is our door opener. He will open the right doors at the right times to take us where He wants us to go… We just have to trust Him.

I love the story in Acts 12 when Peter finds himself chained up in prison surrounded by guards. He escapes miraculously after God sent an angel to rescue him. God opened the door for Peter at the exact moment He needed to, and Peter literally walked through it & out of prison.

It all comes down to our faith & trust in God. I know what you’re thinking, “easier said than done.” I couldn’t agree more. Putting out entire lives in God’s hands and trusting Him can be terrifying.

But what if we radically served God with everything we have? What if we gave up everything to pursue God’s heart? What if we devoted our entire lives to serving His kingdom? Imagine the possibilities!

Our purpose as Christians is to be stewards of God’s word & to further His kingdom in our time on earth. If we focus on Him and on that, He will work out the details. He will put us exactly where we need to be at the exact time we need to be there. Just trust.

I hope this encourages you all to be confident in the Lord & His plan for your life.

  1. I wanted to say how much your article encouraged me. It’s difficult as a college student to stay hopeful when you’re not sure what you want to do with your life yet. So it was refreshing hearing your perspective. By the way, I’m Lauren, the person who wrote “Success Obsessed” on this website too. Great job though!
