Here’s a look at what I’ve been reading this year & what’s sitting on my shelf waiting to be next!

Currently Reading: In The Middle of the Mess by Sheila Walsh

  • The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
I started this book about 5 years ago when a teacher of mine was challenging me to go much deeper spiritually than I was comfortable. I couldn’t quite comprehend the material, and it was well advanced for my spiritual maturity. I picked it up again recently, & WOW, mind-blowing. Although this is fiction, C.S. Lewis captures spiritual warfare in such a jaw-dropping way. The Screwtape Letters is from the perspective of demons deceiving the humans they’re assigned to turn away from God. Each chapter covers different circumstances we encounter daily.
  • Where is God When it Hurts by Philip Yancey
This was actually required reading for my Pastoral Counseling class, but I absolutely love it! We all have those “Why?” questions in life, especially when we’re dealing with pain, hurt, and loss. Maybe you’re on the other side of trying to help someone overcome their hurdles, and you don’t know what to say or even what to do. This book will answer so many of those painful experiences & minister to your heart, as well as teach & develop others how to appropriately empathize & comfort.

Ask me about other books that I’ve read in 2017 for recommendations : )
